FIBA U-19 WOMEN’S WORLD CUP: Nigeria Crushed by Canada in Second Group Match

Nigeria’s U-19 women’s basketball team suffered a crushing 113–42 defeat at the hands of Canada in their second Group B fixture at the ongoing FIBA U-19 Women’s World Cup on Sunday.

The D’Tigress juniors entered the match on a high after a hard-fought 93–88 victory over China on Saturday but were completely outclassed by a dominant Canadian side in all four quarters.

Canada, who had earlier opened their campaign with an 88–49 win over Portugal, displayed superior tactical discipline and offensive execution, securing their second straight group stage victory.

Nigeria will now look to regroup and bounce back when they take on Portugal in their final group match on Tuesday, July 15.

The tournament, which features some of the brightest young talents in global women’s basketball, continues to test the resolve and resilience of the African representatives.
