FG Shuts Down 22 Illegal Colleges of Education

The Federal Government, through the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), has uncovered and shut down 22 illegal colleges of education operating across the country.

The action followed a nationwide crackdown on unaccredited institutions running without government approval.

According to the commission’s report of achievements, obtained by our correspondent, the move is part of efforts to sanitize Nigeria’s teacher-education sector and protect students from exploitation.

The NCCE warned parents and prospective students to verify the accreditation status of any college of education before enrollment, stressing that certificates obtained from illegal institutions remain invalid.
