Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, has ordered all federal tertiary institutions with recruitment waivers to publicly advertise job vacancies.
The directive mandates advertising in at least one national daily newspaper, on institutional websites, and in relevant academic and professional journals.
The move aims to ensure a transparent, open, and competitive recruitment process, offering equal opportunities to all eligible Nigerians. This follows submissions from institutions regarding their staffing needs, aligning with the Ministry’s goal of enhancing higher education capacity.
A statement from the Ministry of Education, signed by Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folashade, emphasized that institutions must submit their recruitment needs for review by the Committee on Waiver and Recruitment.
The initiative is expected to promote fairness and merit-based selection, ultimately improving the quality of education in Nigeria by attracting highly qualified professionals to tertiary institutions. The Ministry underscores its commitment to transparency and accountability in the recruitment process.
