FG Announces N5bn Palliative Each For 36 States, FCT

The sum of N5bn has been announced by the Federal Government as palliative for each state of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory to cushion the impact of the removal of the petrol subsidy.

This development was revealed by the governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, in Abuja on Thursday, while speaking to State House correspondents at the end of a National Economic Council meeting, which Vice President Kashim Shettima presided over.

Prior to the N5bn palliative by the Federal Government, Tinubu had in a national broadcast unveiled N500bn palliative for manufacturers, small businesses and farmers. He also released plans to increase salaries and acquire 3,000 mass transit buses.

President Tinubu unveiled the plan after the organised labour earlier disclosed some weeks ago that it will hold its planned nationwide protest despite rollout of subsidy removal palliative plans by President Bola Tinubu.

Governors of the 36 states, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and other coopted government officials constitutes the National Economic Council.
