The Federal Government is intensifying efforts to lower maternal and newborn mortality in Nigeria by retraining 120,000 frontline health workers. Minister of State for Health, Dr. Iziaq Salako, highlighted the alignment of this goal with President Tinubu’s health agenda.
Initiatives include training, primary healthcare expansion, and the MAMI Initiative targeting high-risk areas. The FG aims for a 20% reduction in maternal mortality and a 15% drop in infant mortality by 2027, emphasizing continuous professional development for healthcare providers.
