A medical scientist, Pamela Uba has emerged as the first black woman in history to be crowned Miss Ireland 2021.
The beauty queen has made some comments after achieving the feat in the competition which has been running since 1947.
The excited 26-year-old who was surprised that 74 years went by before anyone different won the prestigious crown said:
“It feels amazing to be that face that young black girls can look at and say, ‘yes she did that, so we can as well.'”
“I’m the first and it feels amazing people are looking up to me and I never thought I’d be in that position, she added.
