Seven people have been confirmed killed while 4 were critically injured in a fatal multi-vehicle accident on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Saturday, April, 5,2025
A statement signed by Elizabeth Jayeola, the
Sector Public Education Officer, Lagos Sector Command revealed that the Special Intervention Patrol team has cleared the scene of the accident that occurred along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, near NIPCO Filling Station, Ibafo.
The statement added that the crash involved three vehicles, including two tankers and a commercial transport bus.
A total of 15 persons were involved in the incident – 13 males and 2 females.
Below is the breakdown released by the FRSC
• Injured: 4 persons (2 males, 2 females)
• Fatalities: 7 persons (6 males, 1 female)
Vehicles Involved:
1. MACK Tanker – Reg No: SEY 363 YY (White)
2. FAW Tanker – Reg No: T 2900 LA (White)
3. Volkswagen Transporter Bus – Reg No: LSD 180 YA (Yellow)
Probable Causes: Speed Violation (SPV), Loss of Concentration (LOC)
It added that the team immediately evacuated the injured victims to Divine Touch Hospital and Glory Centre Hospital, Ibafo, for immediate medical care while Corpses of the deceased were deposited at Idera Hospital Morgue, Sagamu.
The vehicles involved were towed off the road to restore free flow of traffic while the Nigeria Police (MTD Ibafo) took custody of the vehicles and recovered items.
FRSC Lagos Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kehinde G. Hamzat, deeply regrets the loss of lives and urges motorists to adhere strictly to speed limits, avoid reckless driving, and maintain proper vehicle condition to avoid road tragedies.
