The 13-year-old Ese Oruru from Bayelsa State who was abducted by one Kano Boy Yinusa has regained freedom.

Ese was abducted in Bayelsa on August 12, 2015 and consequently taken to Kano where she was forced to convert to Muslim and marry to his abductor, Yinusa.

Following the alarm raised by Ese’s parents that the girl was a minor and could not have given herself to marriage, the police investigated and on Monday evening Ese was rescued from his captor.

Confirming her release, the Force Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Kolawole, said Ese had been released to the AIG Zone 1 and that she would be brought to Abuja on Tuesday along with her parents.

She said, “The minor was released to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 1, Kano, Shuaibu Gambo, by the Kano Emirate Council.
Kolawole said the police would conduct medical tests, including HIV/AIDS test on Ese, to ascertain her state of health.

Meanwhile, Yinusa had been invited by the police and as at press time, he was writing a statement for the police to intensify their investigation.
