Renowned US author, Eric Carle has died on Sunday at the age of 91.

Carle will always be remembered for his best-selling children’s book The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

The death of the talented author who made impact while he was alive was disclosed by his family.

In a report about his death, a statement from his family read, “In the light of the moon, holding on to a good star, a painter of rainbows is now travelling across the night sky,”

On his exploits in writing, it has been recorded that Carle’s most famous book, which tells the story of a ravenous caterpillar, was published in 1969 and has sold more than 50 million copies.

Another remarkable feat is his simple tale that has just 224 words long, but has been translated into 62 languages.

On the cause of his death, Carle’s son, Rolfe disclosed that his father, who died in Northampton, Massachusetts, passed on after kidney failure.
