Nigerian singer, Yemi Alade is ready to perform with other international superstar singers such as Ed Sheehan, Coldplay and Shawn Mendez, at the first-ever ‘Earthshot’ prize awards at the Alexandra Palace.

The aim of the event which is organised by the Royal Foundation and spearheaded by Prince William is to recognise inventive solutions to the environmental problems facing the planet.

Another angle to the event can be related climate change as the ceremony which will be hosted by Clara Amfo and Dermot O’Leary, aims to turn the tide against the pessimism many feel towards the issue of climate change by showing the positive work being done to help counter the existential threat to humanity.

Scientific minds in the world have been identified and 15 finalists who have impressed with their extraordinary work to help save the oceans, land and air, have also been picked.

Considering the challenges around the planet, Prizes in form of cash worth £1 million will also be won by five of the scientists. They will be expected to continue and progress with their vital work, to proffer solution to these challenges.

A star-studded line-up of presenters, consisting of the Duchess of Cambridge, athlete, Mo Salah as well as actors Emma Thompson, Emma Watson, David Oyelowo, will announce the five winners of the ‘Earthshot prize.’

The ceremony follows the release of the documentary series ‘The Earthshot Prize: Repairing our planet’, which goes into more detail on each of the 15 finalists.

On the date, the Earthshot prize awards will be televised on October 17, 2021.
