Renowned US actor Chadwick Boseman, best known for playing Black Panther in the hit Marvel superhero franchise, has died of cancer aged 43.

According to BBC, Boseman died at home in Los Angeles with his wife and family by his side, a statement posted on social media said.

On the reason for his death, Boseman was diagnosed with colon cancer four years ago but had not made the information public.

Fans of the actor have reacted to the news.

His family, while making comment in the statement said:

“A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much,”

“From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more – all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.”
