Nigeria music lovers and enthusiasts have expressed positive reaction and feelings after the nomination of Afro-fusion singer, Damini Ogulu, well known as Burna Boy, for the 62nd Grammy Awards.
In a statement on the Grammy Awards’ website on Wednesday, Ogulu’s nomination was made public and Nigerians have sent congratulatory messages to the music star.
‘African Giant’ is the album in which he was shortlisted, in the category of Best World Music Album.
The criteria for his nomination was revealed to be for albums containing at least 51 per cent playing time of new vocal or instrumental world music recordings category, according to the organisers.
Seun Anikulapo-Kuti, Femi Anikulapo-Kuti and King Sunny Ade are Nigerians who had been nominated in the category in the past.
At an event slated for Sunday January 26, 2020, the winner will be announced.
