The Silverbird Man of the year awards have become a household name in Nigeria not because of its glamour but the assemblage of the personalities that had won it in the past years.
Since he joined the list of winners in 2011, the richest man in Africa, Alhaji Aliko Dangote passed the baton to Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, the former Minister of Finance. These and many have distinguished themselves in their chosen field and had had contributed immensely to the growth and development of Nigeria.
Tonight, the silverbird awards will go to 21 recipients, three of which are posthumous.
Besides the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike who emerged winner through a poll in December, the Silverbird Public Servant of the year goes to Mr. Babatunde Fowler, the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service.
The Silverbird Personality of the Year is won by wife of the president, Aisha Buhari while Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose won Man of the people award.
The post humous awards are won by the former Biafra Warlord, Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu, winner of the 1993 presidential election, Chief MKO Abiola and the former Senate Leader of the first republic, Senator Olusola Saraki.
