The results of the 2020 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination would be released next week.

The West African Examinations Council has disclosed this development The Punch reports.

According to the examination body, the violence and arson in the country which affected some of its offices and some of its operations nationwide is the reason for the postponement of the result.

The#EndSARS protests against police brutality and unrest also led to the curfew imposed in various states.

The date was also confirmed on the twitter page of the examination body @waecnigeria, on Wednesday.

It was stated that, “The exact date will be made known soon,”

“WASSCE SC 2020 Results Release Date: Dear candidates, the Council had planned to release the results today in fulfilment of our Project 45 but due to the curfew imposed last week, it had to be postponed till next week.

The Head of Public Affairs, WAEC Nigeria, Demianus Ojijeogu, confirmed the date of r elease of results, when contacted.

Meanwhile, Ojijeogu told The PUNCH that the examination body’s “Calabar Office, in Cross River State was looted, vandalised and burnt down by hoodlums.”
