Oyo State Governor Engineer Seyi Makinde has abolished payment of school fees of N3,000 in state-owned secondary schools.
He has also donated his entire salary to the Teacher’s Pension Fund.
These were contained in the inaugural speech of the governor after taking the oath of allegiance administered to him by the Chief Judge, Munta Abimbola at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium (Liberty Stadium), Oke-Ado.
According to him, the government will jack-up budgetary allocation to Education to ten percent in order to check the menace of over 400,000 out-of-school children in the state.
While telling the people not to expect magic, Engineer Makinde promised a pro-private investment friendly government.
Makinde added that his administration would reduce overheads, increase the efficiency of in tax collection and cut down on debt accumulation without concrete repayment plans.
