ECOWAS Chair Maada Bio Meets Tinubu in Abuja
President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone, who currently serves as the Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), arrived at the State House, Abuja, on Friday for a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Sierra Leonean leader arrived at the Presidential Villa around 9:00 p.m. and was received by senior government officials.
While the specifics of the discussions have not yet been disclosed, the leaders are expected to focus on critical issues facing the sub-region, including regional peace, political stability, and economic cooperation among ECOWAS member states.
President Tinubu, the immediate past ECOWAS Chairman, is hosting President Bio as part of ongoing consultations aimed at strengthening the regional bloc and strategizing on current regional challenges.
Prior to his arrival, President Bio had posted on X that his visit to Abuja also included serving as the Commencement Speaker at the 12th Convocation Ceremony of Baze University and engaging with leading African business executives at a high-level investment forum.
