An on-stage attack on US comedian, Dave Chappelle has led to the arrest of a man on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, during a live performance on Tuesday, at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.

According to spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department, the suspect had been carrying a replica handgun that contained a knife blade, BBC reports.

The Los Angeles Police Department said the Stand-up comedian was attacked by an audience member while he was performing at the event.

Police also disclosed that security officers intervened at that time to detain the suspect male who suspect jumped on stage and onto Chappelle as he was about to exit.

The 23-year-old suspect identified by police as Isaiah Lee, has been charged with felony assault and held in jail on a $30,000 (£24,000) bond.

So far, there are no traces that Chappelle who was performing as part of the Netflix Is A Joke festival was harmed, but the suspect has been taken to a local hospital for medical treatment, after suffering “superficial injuries.”
