Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke is facing a possible driving ban.
This development occurred on the eve of the new Premier League season.
The 28-year-old Belgian forward was stopped by police on the A3 in January and March this year at the wheel of his £136,000 Bentley Bentayga.
In the incident on March 11, Benteke, whose Palace future is in doubt after interest from Chinese clubs as well as Fenerbahce and Monaco, was flashed by a speed camera in Putney at 89mph, more than double the 40mph limit. He had already been caught out on January 20 in Barnes when he was driving at 80mph in a 50mph limit.
The striker was due to be sentenced at Lavender Hill magistrates court today, but the case was adjourned at his request until August 30.
The court clerk confirmed Benteke has already pleaded guilty to both speeding charges in writing, in closed-door hearings at the start of this month, and now faces a possible ban due to the high speeds he was caught at.
