Chelsea on Tuesday secured a 2-0 win against Lille in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie at the Stamford Bridge.

Two Superb goals from Blues players, Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic in both halves of the match sealed the victory for Chelsea.

Despite Lille’s encouraging efforts throughout the opening leg, it was the home side still went ahead to get an advantage over the French side with a win.

Meanwhile, the Blues did not sit back to look but were able to bear the pressure from Lille and made great attempts to score through Havertz who missed two good chances when he rose to meet Hakim Ziyech’s corner unmarked to put Chelsea in front after eight minutes.

Following his anonymous display against Crystal Palace, Romelu Lukaku was an unused substitute in in the match.

The former Inter Milan player also had an average record with just seven touches during the full 90 minutes of Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday in the Premier League,

Lukaku was an unused substitute as Havertz bristled with confidence in the false nine role.

With the prospects of a foot in the quarter-finals, Chelsea will head to France for the return leg at Stade Pierre-Mauroy on March 16.
