Champions League: Newcastle Hold AC Milan To Goalless Draw

AC Milan on Tuesday were held to a 0-0 draw with Newcastle in the Magpies first Champions League game for 20 years at the San Siro.

Newcastle only had one shot on target all night after holding a dominant AC Milan to the goalless draw.

The magpies showed some quality, counter-attacking through Almiron before Barnes finds Longstaff on the edge of the area.

In reaction to their performance, former defender of Newcastle defender Sebastien Bassong on Sky Sports News said:

“Newcastle have been defensively solid. They’ve not had a shot on target but this would be such a valuable point at the start of their Champions League adventure.

“They are almost there.”

Newcastle grabbed a first Champions League point since March 2003.
