2019 seems to be a fruitful year for the Ibadan Zone of Economic and Financial Crimes commission as it secured 171 convictions out of the 268 cases prosecuted.
The Commission also disclosed that 1044 accounts were temporarily frozen while 56 automobiles and 14 houses were impounded.
The Ibadan Zonal Head of the Commission, Friday Ebelo reeled out the statistics as part of the activities marking the 2019 International anti-corruption Day.
According to him, the zone also recovered on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria huge sum of N211,134,927.26 (Two Hundred and Eleven Million, One Hundred and Thirty-Four Thousand, Nine Hundred and Twenty Nine Naira, Twenty Six Kobo).
For the foreign currencies, the zone recovered $136,289 (One Hundred and Thirty-Six Thousand, Two Hundred and Eighty-Nine United States Dollars), €2000 (Two Thousand Euros) and £765 (Seven Hundred and Sixty-Five British Pounds).
The anti-corruption boss then advised Nigerians to personalise the fight against corruption to make Nigeria a place worth living in.
