Six days to the end of the Senator Abiola Ajimobi government, workers in Oyo state on Thursday issued a 24-hour strike notice to paralyze government businesses and activities.

In a two-page statement signed by the Secretaries of the Nigerian Labour Congress, Mohammed Ibrahim and that of the Joint Negotiating Council, Lukman Balogun, the workers demanded immediate payment of 7-month arrears salary owed some local government and Health workers (JOHESU).

In an interview, State NLC Chairman, Bayo Titilola-Sodo said that the Unions can no longer fold her arms to the irresponsible attitude of government of turning blind eye to workers’ welfare.

According to him, the workers are requesting the payment of at least one month promotion arrears to the striking primary school teachers and upgrade of security at the state hospital, Adeoyo to avert breakdown of industrial peace and harmony in the state.
