ABUJA, NIGERIA — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forwarded a list of prominent Nigerians, including former service chiefs and political figures, to the Senate for confirmation as non-career ambassadors.
Among the high-profile nominees is Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, the immediate past sole administrator of Rivers State and a former Chief of Naval Staff.
The President also nominated Abdulrahman Dambazau, a former Minister of Interior and a former Chief of Army Staff.
Other notable individuals on the list include Ita Enang, a former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and Chioma Ohakim, the former First Lady of Imo State.
The nominations, categorized as non-career ambassadors, signal the President’s intent to leverage a diverse group of experienced individuals spanning military, political, and administrative backgrounds in Nigeria’s diplomatic missions abroad. The list is currently pending screening and confirmation by the Senate.
