BREAKING: Thailand Seals Border with Cambodia After Deadly Military Clashes Kill 12
Tensions have escalated sharply between Thailand and Cambodia following a deadly border confrontation that has claimed at least 12 lives, mostly Thai civilians.
According to Thai officials, the violence erupted in a long-disputed border area, where Cambodian troops allegedly launched rocket attacks into a Thai village, striking civilian homes and reportedly damaging a local hospital. In response, Thailand carried out targeted airstrikes on Cambodian military installations near the frontier.
The Thai government has since closed its entire land border with Cambodia and issued an urgent evacuation advisory, asking all Thai nationals in Cambodia to return home immediately. Military reinforcements have also been deployed along the border.
Cambodia, in turn, has condemned the Thai military’s response, accusing Bangkok of using “excessive and disproportionate force.” Phnom Penh has reportedly downgraded diplomatic ties with Thailand as the conflict enters a dangerous phase.
So far, at least 12 Thai citizens have died, and dozens more are reportedly injured. Casualty figures on the Cambodian side remain unconfirmed.
Both countries have exchanged accusations at the United Nations, with international observers calling for urgent de-escalation and third-party mediation to prevent the situation from spiraling into a full-blown war.
