The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, alongside members of the National Working Committee (NWC), are currently in Ibadan, Oyo State for a high-stake meeting to deliberate on critical issues affecting the party’s unity, stability, and future direction.
This is coming on the heels of the popular demand of Party members for the expulsion of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike and the removal of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the PDP National Secretary.
Hosted by Oyo State Governor, H.E. Seyi Makinde, the meeting brought together more than 8 PDP governors, NWC members, and other key stakeholders, including members of the National Executive Committee (NEC).
The gathering is aimed at addressing the issue of the National Secretary especially against the background of the endorsement of Hon SKE Udeh Okoye as the substantive National Secretary of the PDP which was reinforced by the recent judgement of the Supreme Court.
The meeting is expected to address these and other pressing challenges facing the party as well as strategize for the party’s resurgence ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting will also deliberate on the political situation in Rivers State, particularly the legal battle surrounding the state of emergency and the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who serves as Vice Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum.
Finally, the meeting is expected to take decision on the development concerning the demands of Party members across the country for the sack from Party of the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike.
Though, the Party has reaffirmed its support for peaceful resolution of all issues, including the National Secretary position, however, the demand for the sack of Nyesom Wike shall remain a major turning point for the Party and Nigerians.
The governors and stakeholders have expressed optimism about the party’s future, emphasizing unity, transparency, and strategic planning as key pillars.
