APC LEADERS SEEK POLITICAL SOLUTION TO RIVERS IMPEACHMENT CRISIS
Top members and some governors of the All Progressives Congress have moved to douse rising tensions in Rivers State following the seven-day impeachment notice issued by the Rivers State House of Assembly to Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Professor Ngozi Odu.
Sources disclosed on Thursday that influential figures within the APC have begun behind-the-scenes efforts to find a political solution to the unfolding crisis.
“There are underground moves already aimed at easing the tension and resolving the matter. A political solution is being sought. Both the governor and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory are being reached out to,” a senior source close to the APC leadership revealed.
Further findings indicate that, in a bid to avert another round of violence in the state, key political actors and some top Federal Government officials close to both sides have initiated moves to resolve the dispute amicably.
