Another Water Tank Built By HYPREP Collapses
Another water tank built by the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project, HYPREP has collapsed, this time in Ebubu community, Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers state.
This comes just two weeks after a similar incident occurred in Gwara community, Gokana local government area.
Today’s collapse has caused flooding in surrounding houses, rendering many residents homeless.
The paramount ruler of Agbeta Ebubu community, Yaya Ambrose, is calling for the immediate sack of the HYPREP board accusing the contractor of using substandard materials.
HYPREP has yet to issue a statement regarding the latest collapse.
The repeated collapses have raised concerns about the project’s management and quality control. HYPREP had commissioned 16 water stations in ogoni with some operational for over two years.
