The additional Anambra State Governorship Election expected to hold in Ihiala Local Government  Area of the South-East state has commenced with arrival of INEC officials and accreditation in some of the 362 polling units.

So far, as at 11.20am INEC officials arrived central school Azia in Ihiala local government and central school and have started setting up their materials while accreditation and voting commenced in Mbosi community.

Amongst the 21 local government areas, elections were held in 20 LGAs over the weekend while elections which was to hold in Ihiala was postponed to Tuesday, 9 November 2021. Results of the election will determine the next governor of the state.

This development prompted the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar declare the governorship poll inconclusive.

Meanwhile, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Charles Soludo, was declared winner in 18; out of the 20 local governments declared, while the candidate of the Young Progressive Party, Ifeanyi Ubah, won in one; and the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Valentine Ozigbo, took the other one.

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Andy Uba, had yet to win any LGA.
