Amid deepening internal divisions within the Labour Party (LP), Rep. Amobi Ogah has dismissed his suspension by the Julius Abure-led faction of the party, reaffirming his loyalty to Abia State Governor, Alex Otti.
Ogah, who represents Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, was among six party members, including Otti, recently suspended over alleged anti-party activities.
In a statement on Thursday, Ogah described the suspension as baseless and politically motivated, stating that it would not deter him from aligning with Governor Otti’s leadership or fulfilling his legislative responsibilities.
“The so-called suspension holds no ground and cannot shake my loyalty to a performing governor like Alex Otti,” he said. “I remain focused on my duties to my constituents and committed to the vision of good governance.”
The ongoing crisis in the Labour Party has exposed deep rifts between the national leadership and prominent elected officials, with tensions threatening to splinter the party ahead of upcoming elections.
