Renowned Nigerian actress Sola Sobowale has won the best actress in Africa, considering her role in the movie ‘King Of Boys’ at the 2019 edition of the Africa Movie Academy Awards held on Sunday, October 27, 2019, at the Landmark Events Centre in Lagos.

The talented actress’ award as the winner of the category, ‘Best Actress’ came after defeating seven other actresses from across Africa.

The plethora of contestants in the category are: Rita Dominic, Sheila Munyiva, Jill Levenberg, Beatrice Taisamo, Seyi Shay, Jemima Osunde, and Samantha Mugatsia to emerge Africa’s Best Actress.

The impact that the movie has made in Nigeria and beyond, has made the organisers of the award to remember the director and co-producer Kemi Adetiba, were rewarded with an award when the film was adjudged Best Nigerian Film,

Adesua Etomi-Wellington grabbed the Best Actress in a Supporting Role category, with a surprise as the third award for Adetiba’s ‘King Of Boys’; which became the Nigerian film with the highest number of awards at the 15th edition of AMAA.

With the film ‘King Of Boys’ getting nine nominations, it won three, which are: NFVCB Best Nigerian Film, Best Actress in a Supporting Role and Best Actress in a Leading Role.

The edition had 26 categories and winners from across different countries in Africa  with over 700 films which were submitted for screening and nominations.
