AFCON 2025:- Officials, Uzoho arrive as Super Eagles camp opens in Cairo

The Super Eagles of Nigeria officially opened their training camp on Sunday, December 14, at the Renaissance Hotel in Cairo, Egypt, as preparations intensify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

All members of the coaching crew and backroom staff have arrived at the camp, marking the formal start of Nigeria’s build-up to the continental tournament. Goalkeeper Francis Uzoho was the first player to report, arriving in Cairo shortly after 2:00 a.m. local time on Sunday.

The camp opening follows the release of Nigeria’s final 28-man squad by head coach Eric Chelle last Thursday.

The list signalled the start of the Super Eagles’ final preparations for the tournament, which will run from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, in Morocco.

Nigeria, three-time AFCON champions, have been drawn in Group C alongside Tunisia, Tanzania and Uganda.

The Super Eagles will begin their campaign against Tanzania on December 23, before facing Tunisia on December 27. Their final group fixture is scheduled for December 31 against Uganda.

Further arrivals of players are expected in the coming days as Chelle and his technical team step up preparations ahead of Nigeria’s AFCON opener
