Gabon and Morocco have progressed from Group C to the next stage of the Africa Cup of Nations in Yaounde after playing a 2-2 draw.

It was a competitive match for Atlas Lions as they fell behind in the first half while Gabon’s Jim Allevinah slid past the onrushing keeper.

Morocco did not stay back but fought for an equalizer, which came through a penalty which was converted by Sofiane Boufal after 74 minutes.

Unfortunately, for Gabon, Nayef Aguerd was forced into scoring an own goal before Achraf Hakimi curled home a free-kick.

Morocco will stay in the Cameroonian capital for their next game, against the best third-placed side from either Group A, B or F, on 25 January.

Meanwhile, Gabon will face Burkina Faso in Limbe as both sides kick off the Round of 16 on Sunday 23 January.
