Late Leader of the Pan Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, Senator Abraham Adesanya is one of the three recipients of the posthumous awards by the organisers of the Silverbird Man of the Year Awards.

Other recipients of this category of awards are late Justice Chukwudifu Oputa and former Governor of Kano State, Abubakar Rimi.

To the organisers, these men were titans who dominated the country’s political space in their capacities as legislator, judge and executive governor to shape democracy.

Recall, Adesanya was a chieftain of National Democratic Coalition, NADECO, a pressure group that fought and forced the military out of office.

He later became the leader of Afenifere after the demise of Pa Adekunle Ajasin, the former Governor of Ondo State in the second Republic.

He was attacked like a few others by the military junta but survived all before he later died during this political dispensation at the age of 87.

Oputa was the chairman of the panel of enquiries into the series of deaths and allegations of political attacks on politicians and many others during military era.

Tagged Oputa panel, the former judge and father of the showbiz personality, Charley Boy, demonstrated immense maturity and professionalism in his conduct and procedure during the sittings at the panel.

For Abubakar Rimi, his nationality status and distinct performance as a governor separated him from others. The three are officially decorated with the posthumous awards.
