The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, along with the Osun PDP leadership, has officially endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in 2027.
This resolution was reached during a stakeholders’ meeting at the Osogbo Government House on Monday, July 21, 2025, and reaffirmed on Tuesday, July 22, through a signed communiqué that also confirmed Adeleke’s intention to run for a second term in 2026 under the PDP .
Key highlights:
Adeleke’s team clarified that speculations about defecting to the APC were false; the governor emphasized he will remain in the PDP, the party on which platform he was elected .
The communiqué was supported by notable Osun PDP figures—including Adeleke himself, his deputy, Speaker Adewale Egbedun, former governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, and over 24 others .
They acknowledged Tinubu as a “proud son of Osun State” and committed to mobilizing support for his 2027 campaign through grassroots consultations with traditional rulers, civil servants, market unions, retirees, and other stakeholders .
Concurrently, they also endorsed Adeleke’s re-election bid in the 2026 governorship race under the PDP .
In summary, Osun PDP has taken a dual-path approach: bolstering Adeleke’s second-term ambition while extending cross-party support to Tinubu’s presidential re-election.
