LIBRA Condemns Adeniji’s Murder, Bemoans FG’s Silence

The Laudable Ife Blokes Reforming Association, LIBRA has condemned the killing of an illustrious son of the ancient city, Dr. Abdurauf Adekunle Adeniji by suspected kidnappers.

Adeniji until his untimely death was the Director of Administration at the All Progressives Congress National Secretariat, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

In a statement signed by the LIBRA president, Prince Adedapo Adelooye, the group bemoaned the silence of the Federal Government over the abduction of Adeniji by gunmen for several months.

It noted the indifference attitude of the federal government, the security agency and the ruling party in the kidnapping and consequent murder of Adeniji alongside Mrs. Esther Adesiyan, wife of another Ife indigene, Prince Akinropo Adesiyan despite their position in the country.

The association while expressing its displeasure with the circumstances that surrounded the killing of this illustrious son of Ile-Ife, called on the government to fish out the culprits and bring them to book.

It described the spate of kidnapping in the country as worrisome, saying that the demise of a brilliant and prominent fellow like Adeniji is a testament that no one is safe.

According to the statement, Adeniji’s body was found in the bush by villagers who quickly arranged for the burial while the security agency failed to protect the lives and property of the citizen.

LIBRA said that closing a party secretariat for a day to sympathise with Adeniji’s family and Ile-Ife in its entirety would not be enough to close this sad chapter but that the government must bring justice to the dead.

“Adeniji should not just be kidnapped, murdered and buried like chicken. The killers must be arrested and justice done over this,” the statement explained.

Expressing its condolence to the family of Adeniji, LIBRA described the deceased as a comrade who stood out among others in the search for quality leadership within and outside Ile-Ife.

It said, “Adeniji was a face of the National Ife Descendants Students Association, NIDSA at a time. He was a grassroots mobiliser and an erudite scholar whose ideas of community development traversed the soil of the ancient town.
