European football governing body UEFA has hailed Super Falcons star, Asisat Oshoala, tagging her the best women’s striker in the world, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
This development comes after the talented player helped Barcelona reach their fifth consecutive semi-final of the UEFA Women’s Champions League in a season.
Interestingly, the Nigerian who has been in fine form for the Blaugrana both in the Primera Division Femenina and Europe has netted 24 goals in 30 matches across all competitions.
Last Wednesday, she made vital impact for Barcelona as the Spanish club reached a fifth straight UEFA women’s Champions League semi-finals.
Oshoala did not only scored, but provided an assist as Barcelona hammered Roma 5-1
She has been consistent in her form for the Catalans despite having injuries in the season. Oshoala is also the sole record holder of the CAF Women’s Player of The Year Award, after winning it for a record fifth time.
She has also achieved such feat as becoming the first African to win the Pichichi award in Spain and finished top scorer in the Liga Iberdrola with 20 goals in 19 appearances.
She has not stopped making efforts to win laurels as she is currently the second on the scorers’ charts with 19 goals, three less than Levante’s Alba Redondo, who occupies the top spot.
This obviously means she is on course to win the award for the second time.
With a picture of the forward and her stats, UEFA Women’s Champions League wrote, “The best striker in the world right now? Asisat Oshoala has been on fire this season.”
With 23 goals in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, the 28-year-old is 15 goals shy of making the top 10 all-time goal scorers chart in the competition.
