Former military head of state, General Ibrahim Babangida on Thursday expressed regret over the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, describing it as the most challenging period of his life.
Babangida made this statement during the official launch of his memoir, ‘A Journey in Service’, in Abuja.
He stated, “Undoubtedly, credible, free, and fair elections were held on June 12, 1993.
“However, the tragic irony of history is that the administration that developed a nearly perfect electoral system and conducted those exemplary elections could not complete the process.”
