Veteran Applaud Shehu Dikko, Backs Morris Atula As Next NWF President

A delegation of Nigeria Veteran Wrestlers Association Thursday paid a courtesy visit on new chairman of the National sports commission, Alhaji Shehu Dikko in his office at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

Speaking on behalf of the Nigeria Veteran Wrestlers Association, Philip Momoh

who is the Financial Secretary said they wholeheartedly welcome President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s choice of Shehu Dikko as Chairman of the NSC.

Momoh said the coming of Shehu Dikko would boost Nigeria Sports considering his wealth of experience and pedigree.

He said: “The Nigeria Veteran Wrestlers Association is extremely grateful to president Bola Ahmed Tinubu for giving us a trusted and tested personality like you (Shehu Dikko). You are a technocrat that would succeed in raising the standard of sports in Nigeria. We are set to give you maximum support. As past top wrestlers, we know what to support and how to achieve needed result. While congratulating you and thanking you for receiving us in your office, the Nigeria Veteran Wrestlers Association want Nigerian Wrestling to be No. 1 in Africa, and among the best in the world as in the past. Sir, we strongly appeal to you to pave way for the smooth election of former Nigeria, Commonwealth and world wrestling champion, Morris Atula, known as the ‘Golden Warrior’ as next President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation.”

Morris Atula is a true technocrat and a team player who would mobilize reputable past and present top wrestlers to revive Nigerian Wrestling. Atula surely knows what it takes to be a world beater. He is a Technocrat to the core.

The Veterans also told Shehu Dikko that there is need for Rotational Wrestling Championship instead of concentrating developmental programs and championships on just one area of the country. They added that such Rotational strategy would guarantee discovery of better wrestlers.

Shehu Dikko said he appreciates the visit and suggestions of the veterans, assuring he would consider their recommendations.
