Despite pleas from the government and stakholders, some youths have trooped to the streets of Osun State to protest the economic hardship, bad governance and hunger in Nigeria.
The same protest is going on in Lagos, Oyo and Kaduna States. While it was peaceful in the southwest, hoodlums have hijacked it in Kaduna, destroying public assets.
The protesters in their numbers converged on Nelson Mandala Freedom Park in osogbo, the state capital before they later Marched down to some strategic locations in osogbo.
Bearing placards with various inscriptions such as; end hunger now, revert electricity tariff, no to inflation, we want food prices to be controlled with immediate effect, refineries must work among others.
Amid heavy combined security presence, the protesters say, the peaceful demonstration is organized to exercise their right according to the constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria.
They vowed to continue the protest for ten days as planned by the organisers but promised to halt the demonstration for a while due to the activities of Osun osogbo cultural festival.
Addressing Journalist, the protesters, said the aim focus of their agitation are devoid of political interest, but interest of the masses especially vulnerable citizens affected by economic crisis, while also calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to review the fuel subsidy removal and to further take urgent steps in addressing economic hardship facing the masses.
