Fuel Stations, Bus Drivers Reject Old Naira Notes

Some commercial banks have started disbursing old naira notes of N200, N500 and N1000  but fuel stations and commercial vehicle operators have refused to collect the money from citizens.

Our correspondent who monitored the situation observed that Guaranty Trust Bank and Zenith  Bank had started the disbursement of old notes to customers as at Tuesday.

This is coming a few days after the Supreme Court’s order  that the notes remained legal tender till December 31, 2023.

However, the Central Bank of Nigeria has not issued any statement whether commercial banks should disburse the notes or not.

President Muhammadu Buhari has not said anything over it neither.
