The Super Eagles of Nigeria have secured the 28th position in the latest FIFA men’s ranking on Thursday after moving up 14 places in the world from the 42nd position.
In Africa, the Super Eagles also moved from the from sixth to the third position
This feat for Nigeria became a reality as a result of the Super Eagles players’ performance in the just concluded African Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire where they came second and clinched the silver medal.
Interestingly, the Super Eagles which were unbeaten run in the competition, lost 2-1 to Cote d’Ivoire in the final.
Other African nations, Morocco and Senegal maintained their lead as the best African teams while the current African champions Cote d’Ivoire, moved from 49th in the world to 39th position.
On the global scene, France and Brazil maintained are second and third positions, while Argentina remains number one in the world.
The next FIFA world ranking will be released on April 4, 2024.
