Nigerian and Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen, has been honoured on Monday, with the Italian Footballers’ Association Footballer of the Year, after his remarkable achievement in the Serie A club last year.
Other award categories and recipient during the ceremony night, were the team of the year, coach of the year, club of the year, and goal of the season.
The prolific player was able to score 26 goals which helped the Partenopei win their first Scudde in 33 years.
Interestingly, Osimhen’s achievements season has also attracted various award nominations, the FIFA Best as he emerged 8th best footballer during the recent Balon d’Or awards.
Osimhen also got the honour of having his name listed in the Serie team of the year alongside Mike Maignan, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Kim Min-jae, Andrea Bastoni, Theo Hernández, Stanislav Lobotka, Hakan Çalhanoğlu, Nicolo Barella, Rafael Leão, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
The Nigerian football star has continued his impressive goals-per-game ratio, with six from 10 after the 14 games, regardless of a tougher start to the 2023-24 campaign and recent struggles with injury.
