Sheffield United are set to sack Paul Heckingbottom after their disappointing 5-0 loss to Burnley on Saturday.
United are currently sitting at the bottom of the Premier League with five points after losing 11 of their opening 14 games.
Considering the critical situation for the club at the moment, the management are in a desperate attempt to revive their ailing Premier League campaign. So far, former manager Chris Wilder is among the leading contenders to take over.
The Blades have also conceded a league-high 39 goals in 14 league games.
Heckingbottom guided United to the top flight with a second-place Championship finish last season, after he was appointed permanent manager in November 2021.
The defeat at Burnley has also prompted comments from Heckingbottom who criticised the club for making “financial rather than football decisions” by selling key players in the summer following promotion.
