Nigerian football star, Victor Osimhen has been ranked 8th Best Player in the world at the 2023 Ballon d’Or in Paris, France, finishing ahead of Egypt and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah in the current ranking.
Considering the ranking, this automatically places Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen ahead in the continent as Africa’s premier player.
The Napoli forward achieved the feat of making the top ten after he was nominated for the Ballon d’Or and went a step further by emerging the 8th best player in the world.
On his achievements for the Italian side that clinched the Serie A title for the first time in 33 years, Osimhen won the Pichichi – the highest goalscorer prize – last season.
Osimhen, 24, also became the first African to win the prize with after scoring 25 goals for the Italian side.
