Women’s World Cup: Nigeria Beat Australia 3-2

The Super Falcons defeated Australia 3-2 At Brisbane Stadium on Thursday.

The Nigerian female defeated her opponent to earn her team’s first victory of the match and the sixth overall victory in the Women’s World Cup’s history.

The nine-time African champions have only won four games in the competition’s history, two of which came in 1999 (against North Korea and Denmark), one in 2011 (against Canada), and one in 2019 (where they also defeated North Korea 2-0).

With the victory, the Super Falcon’s chances of moving on to the round of 16 have increased after Canada defeated Ireland 2-1 on Wednesday.
