China kindergarten Attack: Six killed, One Injured

An attack at a kindergarten in South China’s Guangdong province has occurred on Monday, leaving six people dead and one wounded, a spokeswoman for the city government said.

she said, “The victims include one teacher, two parents, and three students,” AFP reports.

Although, she did not offer details about the identities and ages of the victims nor on the weapon used in the attack, which took place in the city of Lianjiang.

According to her, a police investigation was has commenced while “One suspect has been arrested.”

The state-backed China News Network reported that the incident happened around 7:40 am (2340 GMT on Sunday).

Going memory lane on such issues, there has been a spate of stabbings in recent years as China strictly prohibits citizens from owning firearms.

So far, there has been fatal attacks specifically targeting schools nationwide, which has made authorities step up security around schools.
