Manchester City Beat Inter Milan To Win First Champions League Trophy

Manchester City on Saturday won the UEFA Champions League for the first time after beating Italian giants, Inter Milan 1-0 at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium.

It was a tough and competitive final for both teams but City triumphed after Rodri scored the only goal of the match in the second-half.

The win for City over Inter Milan automatically records a remarkable treble for Pep Guardiola’s side.

In the match City were knocked out of their usual rhythm and lost Kevin De Bruyne to injury, but Rodri fired in from a Bernardo Silva cutback midway through the second half to give their team the win.

Erling Haaland who has scored 52 goals this season could not find the back of the net in his fifth straight match but had team mates who were committed to the course.

With such feat, City are the first English club to win such a treble since Manchester United in 1999, after winning a fifth Premier League title in six seasons, and added the FA Cup.

Going memory lane, the same month 24 years ago, City won the English third-tier play-off final on penalties against Gillingham.

City have also been consistent in the Champions League. Two years after losing to Chelsea in their first final, now they have established themselves as England’s dominant side and have finally added the biggest European trophy.
