KENDRICK LAMAR BECOMES MOST AWARDED RAPPER IN GRAMMY HISTORY
The 2026 Grammy Awards proved to be a landmark event, with several artists making history and breaking long-standing records on one of the biggest nights in music.
American rapper Kendrick Lamar became the most awarded rapper in Grammy history, overtaking Jay-Z with a total of 27 Grammy wins. Lamar had an especially successful night, winning five awards in total.
These included Best Rap Album for GNX and Record of the Year for Luther, his hit collaboration with singer SZA. His wins were widely praised by fans, critics and fellow artists, with many calling him one of the most important voices in modern hip-hop.
The achievement marked another major milestone in a career already filled with critical and commercial success.
Latin music star Bad Bunny also made headlines during the ceremony. His latest album became the first project recorded entirely in Spanish to win Album of the Year.
The historic win was seen as a major step forward for non-English music at the Grammys. It also highlighted the growing popularity and global reach of Latin music, as well as Bad Bunny’s role in bringing the genre to a wider international audience.
Billie Eilish also enjoyed a memorable night at the awards. She won Song of the Year for Wildflower, adding to her impressive list of Grammy achievements. This marked her third win in the category, making her the most awarded artist in Song of the Year history alongside her brother and long-time collaborator, Finneas.
The pair have worked closely together throughout her career and continue to be recognised for their songwriting and creative partnership.
Overall, the 2026 Grammy Awards celebrated both established stars and the increasing diversity of global music, showing how the industry continues to change and evolve.
