OGUN GOVERNMENT HALTS PROCESS OVER SEVERAL PETITIONS
The Ogun State government has directed the stoppage of the ongoing procees for the selection of the new Awujale of ijebuland.
It would be recalled that a popular musician, Wasiu Ayinde also known as kwam1 had through his lawyer Wahab shittu, SAN Challenged his exclusion by the fusengbuwa family
In a statement address to the chairman ijebu ode Local Government, Ganiyu Hamzat
Commissioner for Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs, GANIYU Hamzat said the process is necessary to protect the sanctity of the selection.
He added that the State Government has received several petitions, reports from security agencies and other key stakeholders in relation to the ongoing selection process
According to him, it has become imperative to halt the selection process for the stool at this time.
Quoting him “In taking this decision, government has had due regard to the provisions of the Obas and Chiefs’ Law of Ogun State, 2021 which empower it to “set aside an appointment if the Executive Council is satisfied that it is in the interest of peace, order and good government to do so.”
