AFCON 2025 THIRD-PLACE PLAY-OFF:- MOROCCAN REFEREE APPOINTED FOR EGYPT VS NIGERIA
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Moroccan referee Jalal Jiyed to officiate the highly anticipated third-place playoff between Egypt and Nigeria at the 2025 African Cup of Nations on Saturday.
Jiyed will be assisted on VAR duties by Algerian official Lahlu Benbraham, CAF confirmed.
The match comes after Nigeria suffered a heartbreaking loss to hosts Morocco in a penalty shootout in the semi-finals, while Egypt were edged out 1-0 by Senegal in the other semi-final clash.
Both teams will now battle for a podium finish as the tournament approaches its conclusion in Rabat.
